How Do I Know Whether There Are Allergens In Foods I Purchase On Cottage Nosh?

By: Eric Greenbaum

In accordance with our Terms of Use, Sellers are responsible for providing a comprehensive list of ingredients contained in, or otherwise used to prepare the listed product, including any known allergens. When you buy food from a Seller on Cottage Nosh you are relying on the information provided by that Seller. Cottage Nosh does not verify the accuracy of the information that Sellers provide. We generally believe that our Sellers are honest people and they are doing their best to ensure that what they tell you is true.

That said, when it comes to allergens, buyers should exercise their judgement and make reasonable choices in light of the fact that incorrect information regarding allergens can have very serious consequences. It’s possible that a baker could make a mistake and forget to list an ingredient that is an allergen or use equipment that has trace elements of an allergen which could get into their products without them realizing.

For these reasons we recommend that buyers with food allergies exercise increased diligence when ordering and/or consuming food purchased from Cottage Nosh sellers. Buyers with extreme (potentially life threatening) food allergies should not purchase or consume foods from Cottage Nosh sellers.

Additional information regarding Buyers’ and Sellers’ responsibilities when it comes to allergens, ingredients, and food safety can be found in our Terms of Use.
